Sept. 10th 2018 Speaker, Harold Lanier

Join us for our next meeting when Harold Lanier of Lanier Bee Barn will speak on Biology of the Bee with information for experienced and newbees alike.
Fundamental understanding of the biology of the honey bee is our first step in learning how to care for them and to help us understand what they do and (sometimes) why they do it. We will also learn a little about how they communicate.

Harold Lanier is a sideliner who has been keeping bees for about 9 years. He manages from 50-75 colonies depending on the time of year. Harold is the owner of Lanier Bee Barn in Commerce, GA. where he sells all manner of beekeeping supplies and equipment, some of which he makes himself in his workshop. Harold is a mentor to several local beekeepers and is happy to answer questions via email and text. Growing out of his desire to provide information to beekeepers, Harold teaches his all-day Beekeeping Boot Camp 6-8 times each year. Harold is UGA Journeyman Beekeeper and an active member in Tri-County Beekeepers, Gwinnett Beekeepers, Lake Hartwell, and Forsyth County clubs. He is also a member of the GBA and American Beekeeping Federation. Harold has been the featured speaker at several local clubs, local schools, Boy Scout camps and at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens at Gainesville.
